I have been diagnosed with HSV-1 (below the belt). in 6 years I have had 2 outbreaks and both were within 3 months of contraction date. HSV 1 on the genitals is very unlikely to recur on any kind of regular basis. I have only had one out break n none since, u should tell ur partner because if u have it, where else could u have gotten it from if they are the one who is ur partner, either u or ur partner cheated. I am glad you had a clinician who made your diagnosis of genital herpes and determined whether it was type 1 or type 2. If your partner also has HSV-2 infection, then HSV transmission is a moot issue, although it’s important not to forget about all the other sexually transmitted diseases out there.
